  • Where does the I'm Amazing program take place?
    The I'm Amazing programs happens at both, Newton North and Newton South High Schools.
  • How is the program staffed?
    The I'm Amazing program is staff by a combination of volunteers and NYSC staff. NYSC also receives grant funding for NPS staff.
  • What is required of a teen faciliitator?
    Teen facilitators are required to attend a 4 hour orientation (typically in February) as well as 6 at-school sessions with their explorers during tiger/lion block. Mentors, TFacs, and Program leads clean up and then do session debrief followed by lesson preparation for the next Tuesday until 5:00. TFacs are also required to attend the big finale where explorers interview professionals in their careers of choice.
  • Is being a TFac a paid position or is it volunteer?
    Being a teen facilitator is a paid position.
  • How can I become a TFac?
    Recruitment typically starts late November/early December. Be on the lookout for announcements from your school guidance or METCO counselors. To be considered for a TFac position you must undergo an application and interview process.
  • How much does the program cost?
    I'm Amazing is offered free of charge. Parents just need to ensure that their child attends all 7 sessions.
  • How will explorers get to the program? How will they get home?
    Students at Day Middle School will walk to Newton North High School. Students at Oak Hill Middle School and Brown Middle School will walk to Newton South High School. A van will be provided for Bigelow Middle Schoolers to be transported to Newton North. We will arrange with NPS for a late bus to pick up students from either High School at around 4:10 PM.
  • My child did I'm Amazing last year, can they do it again?
    Yes!
  • How can I get my child involved?
    We ask that parents attend Zoom sessions and the Explorer Parent Info Session (pre-registration) to learn about the program and to register your child.
  • My child is involved in the Tenacity challenge, can they also do I'm Amazing?
    YES, but please ensure that the student can fully participate and be engaged in both activities.
